The first Bath…

From the

Diary as of 7/26/2008

The aggressions are down a bit – especially as the babies are getting bigger now they are not as vulnerable any more and they start to defend themselves.

Willy an Joey still come to the food swan and take their breakfast. It is very sweet that they come in the morning around the time when I wake up and wait on the balustrade for their share of the beloved sunflower seeds. I have realized that they are less jealous now on the new babies, Winnie and Jimi, although they still cannot stand it when Jimi and Winnie are coming along to be fed with sunflower seeds as well…

These days the temperature is very high and Jimi and Winnie are taking their first bath:

  1. Hello sweet family of the pigeons…

I have not been here for a while and its nice to read that the baby pigeons have grown up. They are very lovely.

Do you by chance have any dogs or cats as part of your family? If so, will these pigeons worry about them? Recently, a puppy came into my life. I bring him to the park and he loves to chase around pigeons. But the pigeons seem to ignore him and they got on with their bread. Its nice to watch how little furbaby interact well with the birdie friends.

Nice to read your blog as always….

  2. Hello again,

Yes, I wanted to share about something good. My neighbour recently got a baby white parrot. I do not know the exact name of the breed. When this neighbour brought the parrot down to the park, the parrot will flap its wings continuously when it saw the pigones feeding the bread on the ground. Do you by chance know what this reaction signifies? Is it a welcoming sign?

Well, I have another dog and this dog reacts well with the pigeons. But my new puppy keeps chasing the pigones around. But the little one is harmless.

    Have a beautiful day….

  3. Hi windflower – nice to “see” you again. I think the young parrot is just training its wing muscles. Or he feels lonely and wants to socialize with the pigeons. Parrots always seek company – they never live alone in the wild so it is quite sad to keep them as single birds. Same with the pigeons – they always live in a flock and need each other’s company.
Maybe you could convince your neighbour to buy another young parrot for company of the first one – this would be much more “humane” for both birds…

Oh – btw – cats would not tolerate pigeons and rather consider them as food than as friends…
