Emma sitting on 3 Eggs…

Filed under: birds, documentary, funny, new egg, photos, pigeons — pigeonwriter @ 10:17 pm

From the

Diary as of 12/1/ – 12/7/08

12/1/08 And Emma started huddling with Pete – now what does THAT mean? They are still breeding on the plaster eggs….they do not want … ??

Jimi is fighting with Mr. Black because of Hillary. It is quite clear that Mr. Black is totally upset about Jimi stealing his girlfriend. Jimi, Jimi…..

12/3/08 Emma sitting on 3 eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took one away – so that she is breeding on the plaster eggs again.

12/4/08 It’s 7° C and sunny – wonderful weather – so I had the idea of giving them the bathtub. I filled it with warm!! water and you would not believe it but 10 pigeons were waiting in a row for getting into the bath which Pete of course wanted to have all for himself. I even had to change the water because it became so dirty. It was such a joy to watch how these birds had their fun….

12/5/ – 12/7/08 Emma laid another egg – I took it away also and she is sitting on the 2 plaster eggs again. Oh my – would she know that I am mocking her? Poor little Emma but I won’t allow her to produce one kiddo after another…

We have a new visitor: a small pigeon and we called him Punky first because he looked absolutely filthy!!! He must have bathed in pigeon poo during the night. Maybe he’s got a bad sleeping place where other pigeons shit on his head – now his feathers are really wet and I fear he is getting sick! It’s too cold to have a badly kept plumage but what can I do????

Fritzi appeared again – he is still tiny – half the size of Jimi – but easily recognizable from his black feet. Although many pigeons have the same morphs and very similar patterns there are always some special marks where you can recognize them.

Pete again – always keeping his plumage in best shape:

Mr. Black on his favourite seat on the poles….he is meditating over the loss of his girlfriend and what he did wrong….
He begins to loose his contenance which means he’s getting sh… on his plumage… (later on it’s getting much worse….)

Jimi has a Girlfriend…and a common Dialogue

Filed under: birds, documentary, funny, pigeons — pigeonwriter @ 2:51 pm

From the

Diary as of 11/21/ – 11/30/08

11/21/08

Jimi has finally a girlfriend, I wondered when this was going to happen and now it is true. And you know what – he stole her from Mr. Black!!! It is Hillary – the former girlfriend of Mr. Black. What do you say now? There is no honor between pigeons… I am truely shocked  8O 8O 8O .
But she is such a lovely little girl, half the size of Jimi, has the same colours on her head, a light grey and a very nice pattern on her wings – she is a beauty! you can check her out here.

While the weather is quite nice – sunny – unusual for late November – the birdies are going crazy again and Willy and Winnie are making love and are a wonderful couple to watch. Winnie never does anything without Willy, and Willy never leaves Winnie alone. How sweet!!!

They started to examine pigeon city… and then came what’s inevitable…

(Willy is the left pigeon – Winnie on the right)

“Oh look, my love, there is another appartment” – Winnie says…

(murmer, murmer) – he repeats in a low voice…

.
.

1110nov0171

“Oh look, Willy, I need to check this one out” – she says…

“is that really necessary” – he grumbles….

.
.

1110nov0172

“Oh my this one is really marvellous” – she says in a high pitched voice….

“come on – we already got whatever we need” – he says, slowly becoming nervous…

.
.

1110nov01731

“You are always such a spoil sport, Willy” – she cries with even higher tones…

“come on baby, cool down” – he answers, becoming a bit impatient now…

.
.

1110nov0174

” yea yea it’s always the same, you never let me have my fun” – she says totally upset…

(murmer, murmer) – again he is trying to smoothe things out…

.
.

1110nov0175

“I never get what I want” – she cries – “I’am leaving you!!” – she blows herself up and…

is gone…

Sitting on the Eggs for 45 Days…

From the

Diary as of 11/9/ – 11/20/08

11/9/08 It’s the 45th day now – Emma still sitting on the plaster eggs. This is a record!!! I only hope that she is not going crazy and needs a shrink because these damn eggs won’t hatch….

11/10/08 Jimi’s back sleeping in pigeon city. He had a little fight with Pete but won. Wonderful Jimi….

11/11/ – 11/20/08 After we had a couple of “warm” days again I put out the bath again. The birdies LOVED it.

Many little things happen these days but our pigeons are still here, coming each morning to get their seeds and Jimi sleeping in pigeon city from time to time. Funny thing is when the weather is bad he prefers to sleep in pigeon city where he has a warm, dry appartment. He knows what’s good for him.

We have various visitors in the meanwhile – participating in having breakfast and feeding from the pots. Pete is very busy to make sure that everyone knows that this is HIS home and HIS feeding pots. So the others take advantage whenever Pete is busy with someone else or away. Funny scenes to watch here from time to time…

Emma is still sitting on the eggs. Slowly I have the suspicion that she enjoys having her peace, while sitting in her own little villa. From time to time she gets up, does her droppings on the oppositie building which really amuses me because it’s an office building from company I cannot stand – so I have my own little gloating.
Emma is a very clean little mommy. She never sh….s near the nest. Isn’t that sweet?

Emma still sitting on the Plaster Eggs…

Filed under: birds, check, documentary, funny, morph, photos, pigeons — pigeonwriter @ 12:57 pm

From the

Diary as of 10/27/ – 11/8/08

10/27/08 Everybody is waiting for their seeds again – even Jimi and Joey are eating from the same pot without quarreling which is a miracle. Normally they don’t love each other very much – :(

Mr. Black came with 2 friends – one is the coloured checkerboard whom we called Hillary and the other is little Fritzi with a single little white feather on his head. Mr. Black is still behaving so funny – wobbling with his neck and he has a veeeeeery long one – never seen this with another pigeon….

And I hardly can believe it:
Emma still sitting on the plaster eggs and changing with Pete. They are nearly 2 weeks over the time now! what is happening here??????

10/28 – 11/8/08 Travelling again…came back on the 8th. Jimi did not appear for the breakfast frenzy – I was very worried. But he came on the next day – maybe he was travelling too and thought – oh well Mama is not here – so I can go as well…..

This is little Fritzi, always plushed up like a feather ball because apparently he is always freezing. Poor little one – he is half the size of Jimi – I wonder why…

New Visitors again and Pete’s new Look…

From the

Diary as of 10/19/ – 10/26/08

10/19/08 I was travelling again and for one week off…..

10/25/08 back from travelling – all food was gone, water gone. How does it come that it appears to me that these little buggers eat much more when I am away. It’s like kiddos plundering the fridge when Mommy and Daddy are gone.

Emma and Pete are still sitting on the eggs – one and a half week overdue now – how long still?

10/26/08 Breakfast as usual???? Who is coming? All are here!!!! Only Fritzi ist still not coming for breakfast…

In the evening another of the new visitors appeared – another little Fritzi – also a young pigeon with yellow needle hair still and with a tiny white feather on his head – begging and making noises like the old one. He slept on the window blinds on the balcony this night. It was very foggy tonight and he possibly could not find his way to his sleeping place – who knows? So maybe he thought he’d be safer on our balcony where no-one would do him any harm. Isn’t that sweet?

It was not quite so sweet the next morning when I realized that he had left quite an amount of droppings on my plants – geeeeeeeeez

And Pete’s new look after the moult: brandnew white feathers and look at his beautiful feet….
