Gone for a week…

Diary as of 8/10 – 8/18/08

8/10 – 8/17/08 – I was gone for a week visiting my family. But of course I left food and more than enough water… They had two of these big green bathing containers on the balcony floor – it was still quite hot.

Emma had laid another egg – which strangely disappeared on the same day – this time I kept it in order to make a fake egg…

Back again I realized that Willy and Joey looked awful – they have started with their moult. Their faces looked totally screwed up – real holes in their feathers  . It looked awful – totally ragged. Poor guys…  (Btw – this process is still ongoing as of Sep 20 – in the meanwhile faces look “healed” again but Willy has big “featherholes” in his neckfeathers still. Now you can see that there is not much flesh on a little pigeon’s throat. So how can you kill them to eat them????? Joey looks better in the meanwhile – not as ragged as Willy)

Although the following photos were taken about 2 weeks later there are still the missing feathers visible – at least their “rotten” faces are back to being beautiful again and Willy has his shower cap fully back….

Nonsense nothing but Nonsense…

It is just like with human babies and kids – sometimes when they get bored they have nothing but nonsense in their little heads and do things which they are not supposed to be doing as f.e. a little pulling here and there in the flower pot and testing the blooms whether they are edible. It’s just testing how far one can go…

…but could you really be mad at those little buggers who want you to make you believe that they are completely innocent…

…even if the little gangster has already betrayed himself by leaving evidence in his beak???

… no you cannot!!!

Flat like a Pancake or a fallen Angel…

I told you – the birds are suffering from the heat as well – a bit – but why do they still rest on the balustrade in full sun instead of seeking a shady place??? Not sure why they do this…

Winnie even spread out his wings at full length when I did not have the camera ready any more – so I don’t have a picture of that behaviour. But he lay flat like a pancake with wide wings – looked strange like a fallen angel…

And Daddy Pete is taking a shower in the rain finally again:

Livingroom is the coolest Place – too hot outside…

Sorry for not updating earlier – I am terribly behind posting – but I continue the diary always manually – so nothing is really lost, only posted a bit later. So here is the next entry….

Diary as of 8/6 /08

While feeding Willy and Joey on the balustrade with their beloved sunflower seeds Jimi came along and Willy started immediately picking at him. So Jimi simply jumped on my arm and crawled up to my shoulder. He knew he would be safe there. Later on – while the others were fighting outside again he came into the living room and flew to my easle again and sat there for hours. He is our little philisopher! It is so sweet how he sits behind my shoulder watching me working on the computer or taking a nap. This way he has his peace.

Even Winnie came in again and they both sat side by side on the floor – what a cute picture. I love them so…

Later on Jimi flew out again and went into the bath. It was very hot today and the water in the green bowl was really warm. Somehow Jimi is the only one who likes warm water so he had the bath all for himself.

And – btw – they hardly ever make any poop on the carpet – which is quite amazing considering what they leave sometimes on the balcony – as if they knew that one should not shit on the carpets….

Bad days, bad mood….

Diary as of 08/03 – 08/05/08

Jimi and Winnie start picking at mom, especially Winnie, which is the same behaviour I observed happening with Willy and Joey when they started to grow up. Winnie is the girl and Jimi the boy – that’s clear to me now. Also Jimi is becoming bigger than Winnie.

08/05/08

Today jimi came back inside to take a nap.  Apparently there was too much hazzle outside, too much fighting and he wanted his quiet time. He went straight away to my easel again, then crawled on my arm and finally went back to the easel and sat there totally quiet for 1 hour at least while I was working on the computer. After that he walked outside again….so sweet.

and the head gets heavier and heavier….

and chr chr chr chr…

This evening they are fighting again – Willy and Joey – the elder babies -  tried to capture their places but did not succeed…Pete and Emma were always there to defend their territory….

Everybody was finally in a bad mood and fighting for his favourite seat… no good, not good at all….
